Bath time with your baby!

  • Most babies enjoy a bath, but this must of course be accompanied by suitable caution.
  • The first and most important thing is to make sure that the bath water is not deeper than 20 cm.
  • One of the most essential things is to check the temperature of the water. You can do this easily with a bath thermometer or your elbow.
  • The ideal temperature for bath water is 37° C.
  • The temperature of the bath water must never be higher than 40° C !
  • When you take your baby for a bath, make sure to first fill the bath pan with cold water, and then add hot water. This way you can be sure that the baby cannot get burnt.

The ideal room temperature

  • Sleep and rest are two of the most important needs for your baby. These needs have a direct influence on the baby's health and development.
  • Babies can sleep as much as 18 hours a day, which is why it is important for them to have ideal sleeping conditions.
  • A baby’s temperature is indirectly influenced by the temperature of its surroundings, meaning a good room temperature is essential for your baby

  • The ideal room temperature for children older than 6 weeks is between 16° C and 19° C.
  • Parents have to make sure that the temperature does not rise above 20° C.
  • You can use an ordinary thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature.

How to choose the right babyphone

It’s very important to choose the right babyphone, since parents must be able to have full trust in it. This is why it is important to know what functions are available and what they mean.

Power supply options

Several power supply options are available for babyphones. They differ mainly in their ease of use:

  • AC mains power
  • Battery power (approximately 20 hours)
  • Transmitter with AC adapter and receiver with batteries

Interference

Disturbances to reception are called interference. This can be caused by energy radiated by wireless equipment close to the babyphone. TOPCOM offers a wide selection of babyphones which avoid interference on the babyphone frequency.

Transmission

  • Transmission refers to the link between the babyphone transmitter and the receiver. There are generally two different types of transmission:
  • Digital: This type of transmission is typically entirely free of interference because the link between the babyphone transmitter and the receiver is encoded.
  • Analogue: Analogue transmission uses radio frequencies that do not emit any harmful radiation. The signal from the babyphone is received by selecting a particular frequency. In contrast to digital transmission, some interference can occur with analogue transmission.

Range

  • A significant consideration with a babyphone is its range. This varies quite a lot among different babyphones, which can have a range of 50m to as much as 2 kilometers. Naturally TOPCOM also offers solutions adapted to your own wishes and situation.

Out of range

This is a function that ensures that you can always hear your baby. As soon as you are outside the range of the receiver, a signal is generated to indicate that you are nearly out of range. Thanks to this feature, which all TOPCOM babyphones have, it can give you a reassuring feeling as a parent.
